Have been passed the sign for Davy Crockett State Park several times but never checked it out. During our ride the other day we where close enough to stop. Walked around and saw the Crockett Settlement was really pretty neat. Has a nice looking camping area and walking area. Will stop by again to really check it out better. Don't know how it is during the summer with crowds but mid October was really nice.
It's like going back in time. They also have live demonstrations from time to time. Of they way things were done years ago. The actual birthplace is on the camp ground site. Ask about the garden, corral & workshop areas.
Great visit. Not much attention to all the fallen leaves. I will take a leaf blower in future fall visits. Great place to camp.
I love the place except for them cutting down about 10 trees while I was there. David Crockett really picked a nice homestead on the river. There is a garden and buildings that you can check out. It is far enough off the main road, that it is very peaceful. There is a camp ground at the beginning of the park.
Really nice for those who enjoy seeing how things were way back then:)
